Its non-stick and hydrophobic properties make it indispensable in non-stick cookware coatings, while its high dielectric strength (60 kV/mm) and arc resistance favor electrical insulation in wiring and PCB components. PTFE's biocompatibility (ISO 10993-certified) enables medical uses like vascular grafts and surgical sutures. In aerospace, its weatherability shields components from UV/ozone degradation. Though prone to cold flow, additives (e.g., 15–25% glass fiber) improve creep resistance for industrial seals and piston rings. Emerging applications include 5G antenna coatings (low dielectric loss) and green hydrogen membranes (chemical stability). Recyclability remains limited, but pyrolysis techniques are advancing circular solutions.
| Products Applications |
"PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a cornerstone material across industries due to its unique properties. In industrial settings, it serves as seals, gaskets, and linings for chemical tanks (resisting acids like sulfuric/nitric). The automotive sector leverages its low friction for fuel hoses and bearing pads, while electrical engineering relies on its insulation for coaxial cables and semiconductor parts. Medical applications include vascular grafts and sutures (FDA-approved biocompatibility). Consumer goods feature PTFE in non-stick cookware (Teflon® coatings), and aerospace uses it for wire insulation and thermal shields. Emerging roles span renewable energy (hydrogen fuel cell membranes) and telecom (5G antenna coatings). Despite recycling challenges, PTFE's versatility ensures enduring relevance in high-performance solutions."
